Who Qualifies To Get A Bursary Or University Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has officially opened the 2025 application process.

Applications at the moment are open and may shut on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant will have to fulfill the following criteria:

• Be considered a South African citizen or copyright who emanates from a house by using a combined gross domestic earnings that doesn't exceed R350 000 per annum.

• Persons with disabilities qualify if their combined family cash flow would not exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients instantly qualify for funding and want not post any evidence of earnings.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open up to all South African citizens and permanent citizens from households with combined R350 000 and R600 000 per annum.

Applicants are reminded to provide the proper nsfas status Id Doc numbers, names, and surname, as reflected in their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds people who are researching or plan to study in a general public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
